Position Description and Details
During the school year (September-May), Orange Easel art instructors teach classes in drawing, multimedia, and or preschool fundamentals. LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR CLASS TYPES. Class sizes are no more 16 children, though most are 8-12. Curriculum is provided as well as time and resources to work-through lessons before class.
During the summer (June-August), Orange Easel instructors lead summer camps, storytime art classes, and teen workshop. LEARN MORE ABOUT OUR SUMMER PROGRAMMING. Camps sizes are no more than 14 artists per classroom. All camps and classes are team-taught. Curriculum is provided as well as time and resources to work-through lessons beforehand.
INSTRUCTOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Greeting and welcoming families as they arrive in the studio
Answering questions from parents
Ensuring the safety and well-being of children in their care
Creating a positive and fun environment for class
Instructing students in drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, etc (curriculum provided)
Cleaning and organize studio and supplies
Communicating with fellow teachers and staff about needs, concerns, successes, etc
REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED
College degree in art or education preferred
2+ years experience in teaching children or working in a classroom setting
Experience in a wide range of art media
Outstanding customer service skills
Desire to work with a team
Positive attitude
HOURS AVAILABLE
Preschool instructors teach classes in the weekday mornings, generally 8:00am-1:00pm. Hours may vary depending on responsibilities (i.e. a lead teacher will come in earlier than the assistant).
K-12th instructors teach in the weekday evenings, generally 4:00pm-9:30pm. Hours may vary depending on responsibilities and class times.
Summer camp leaders work Monday-Thursday 8:00am-4:30pm during camp weeks and during off-weeks have a flexible schedule for prepping supplies or supporting other camps.
Saturday hours available for team members who want to help with special events and/or parties.

COMPENSATION Instructors are paid hourly based on experience and education. Beginning pay rates range from $12-$18/hour.
